Where Innovation Meets Learning

At Bulldog Tech, we believe middle school should inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence. As the first New Tech Network school in Silicon Valley, we prepare students for college, careers, and life in the 21st century through project-based learning in a technology-rich environment. Our students learn by doing—solving real-world problems, working in teams, and presenting their ideas with skill and confidence.

We’re a small public middle school of about 300 seventh- and eighth-graders, located on the east side of the LeyVa Middle School campus. While we share the same start and end times as LeyVa, our daily schedule is unique designed to give students extended learning blocks and integrated subjects that mirror the way knowledge is applied in the real world. Our classrooms are led by highly qualified, New Tech Network–trained teachers who know how to challenge students academically while supporting their personal growth.

Bulldog Tech is proud to be the first New Tech Network school in Silicon Valley. The New Tech Network is a national education partner that helps us use a proven learning model to prepare students for college, career, and life in the 21st century. Our approach combines three key elements:

Students benefit from technology that enables, culture that empowers, curriculum that engages
  • Technology that enables

  • Culture that empowers

  • Curriculum that engages

This model is used in more than 160 schools across the United States and Australia, and it gives our students the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.

We are a public middle school serving about 300 seventh- and eighth-grade students. Bulldog Tech is located on the far east side of the LeyVa Middle School campus and operates as a “school within a school.” We share the same start and end times as LeyVa, but our daily schedule is different so we can fully use our unique learning model.

A Different Kind of School Day

Our core classes and integrated electives are taught in three large instructional blocks at the start of the day. Each block is 74 minutes long, giving students plenty of time to work on in-depth projects without rushing from class to class every 45 minutes like in a traditional schedule. In the afternoon, students attend physical education (PE) at LeyVa and a special class called Connections. In Connections, students develop important life skills that are not usually taught in a traditional classroom. They may participate in community service, work with local partners, take workshops on a variety of topics, explore new electives, or even design their own projects. Connections helps students apply what they learn in class to real-world experiences.

Highly Trained Teachers and Strong Support

All Bulldog Tech classes are taught by two highly qualified teachers who receive ongoing professional development well beyond the standard requirements. Our Site Director and coaches from the New Tech Network provide additional training and support to ensure our teaching meets high standards of excellence.

Part of the LeyVa Community

While Bulldog Tech has its own academic program, students can participate in all LeyVa Middle School sports teams, clubs, and extracurricular activities. This gives them the best of both worlds—a unique and innovative learning environment plus access to a vibrant campus community.

Our Vision & Goal

Bulldog Tech, a school within LeyVa Middle School, puts students at the center of their learning. Instead of simply memorizing facts for a test, our students actively engage in meaningful, real-world experiences that build collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Guided by California state standards, our Constructivist approach ensures learning is both rigorous and relevant—helping students understand why their learning matters.

We recognize that the two years students spend with us—seventh and eighth grade—are pivotal in shaping who they become. During this time, we focus on developing agency and a growth mindset, empowering students to discover their passions, take ownership of their learning, and prepare for success in high school and beyond.

Our Proven Model

At Bulldog Tech, we use teaching methods proven to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning. In partnership with the New Tech Network, we design meaningful experiences that connect what students learn in class to the real world. Our approach helps students build the skills, confidence, and independence they need to succeed in high school, college, and beyond. At Bulldog Tech:

  • All classes use Project-Based and Problem-Based Learning, making lessons active, engaging, and relevant.

  • Subjects are integrated, just as they are in real life, rather than taught as stand-alone subjects.

  • Each class is led by two New Tech Network–trained teachers for strong guidance and support.

  • We maintain low student–teacher ratios (25:1) to ensure personal attention.

  • Assessments reflect school-wide learning outcomes that align with deeper learning skills and competencies.

  • Students work in a 1:1 technology environment, similar to what they will experience in college and the workplace.

  • We partner with community organizations to give projects authentic, real-world connections.

  • Our school culture is built on trust, respect, and responsibility among students, staff, families, and the community.

  • Through collaborative leadership, we regularly reflect on and improve our model.

  • Students learn to give and receive feedback that is kind, specific, and helpful.

  • Over their two years here, students set and share personal learning goals with support from teachers, families, and peers.
